The Opportunity: AI / Generative AI Expert - Migration & Legacy Modernization

Amdocs is seeking a senior AI / Generative AI Expert with 6+ years of overall software engineering experience and 3+ years of hands-on experience in AI and Generative AI. This role focuses on building end-to-end Agentic AI solutions for migration, legacy modernization, and enterprise system transformation.

What You Will Do

• Design and develop comprehensive AI and Generative AI solutions, including Agentic AI workflows for critical migration and modernization use cases.
• Build proof-of-concept (POCs) and production-grade AI solutions to drive application, code, and data migration initiatives.
• Leverage advanced AI techniques to analyze, comprehend, and transform legacy systems into modern architectural frameworks.
• Evaluate, select, fine-tune, and optimize foundation models specifically for migration scenarios, such as code understanding, refactoring, translation, and documentation generation.
• Construct robust AI pipelines encompassing data ingestion, embeddings, RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation), AI agents, thorough evaluation, and continuous monitoring.
• Implement prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and LoRA/PEFT methodologies to enhance accuracy in migration-related tasks.
• Seamlessly integrate AI solutions with existing Java- and C#-based applications and broader enterprise platforms.
• Deploy and manage AI workloads across leading cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP, supporting extensive modernization programs.
• Ensure high standards of scalability, security, reliability, and ethical/responsible AI practices across all deployments.
• Collaborate strategically with migration, product, and engineering teams to translate legacy transformation requirements into innovative AI-driven accelerators.

What You Need

AI / Generative AI Expertise:

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in AI and Generative AI, specifically with LLM-based systems.
• Deep understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), embeddings, transformers, and Agentic AI patterns.
• Demonstrated experience building Agentic AI systems for multi-step, tool-driven workflows.
• Practical experience with model evaluation, fine-tuning, and optimization techniques.

Core Experience & SDLC:

• 6+ years of overall software engineering experience, showcasing strong exposure to SDLC, system design, and architecture.
• Proven track record in designing and delivering production-grade systems, beyond just prototypes.
• Strong understanding of enterprise architectures, system integration, and crucial scalability considerations.

Migration, Legacy & Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Python, complemented by working knowledge of Java and/or C#.
• Experience in supporting or leading application, code, or platform migration initiatives.
• Understanding of legacy systems and technologies (e.g., COBOL, JCL, batch processing) or significant experience in legacy modernization programs.
• Experience deploying AI solutions on AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
• Ability to transition AI-driven migration POCs into robust, production-grade solutions.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with code analysis, refactoring, or translation tools.
• Familiarity with RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) architectures and vector databases for code and documentation retrieval.
• Experience with LLMOps / MLOps in large-scale transformation programs.
• Exposure to enterprise-scale modernization or platform engineering.

Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience with legacy codebases (mainframe, batch systems, procedural languages).
• Experience with multi-modal AI (text, code, diagrams).
• Knowledge of responsible AI, governance, and security in regulated environments.
• Contributions to migration accelerators, internal tools, or open-source projects.
