Job Summary
AMD's Product Security Office (PSO) is looking for a highly skilled Cryptography & Side Channel Security Expert to enhance cryptographic security across AMD platforms. This role involves evaluating cryptographic implementations, conducting side-channel and fault-injection assessments, and developing practical countermeasures.
What You Will Do
- Assess security properties of cryptographic designs and implementations (hardware and firmware).
- Evaluate and harden cryptographic subsystems, providing security guidance to engineering stakeholders.
- Explore cryptographic roadmaps and modern/emerging algorithms.
- Perform side-channel vulnerability discovery (power, EM measurements, leakage detection, attack development).
- Execute evaluation methodologies like SPA/DPA/CPA and fault analysis.
- Design, recommend, and validate countermeasures against attacks.
- Conduct SCA on pre-silicon and post-silicon targets.
- Create and extend test environments for repeatable security evaluations.
- Partner across the silicon lifecycle to integrate security testing early.
- Communicate complex security findings to diverse audiences.
- Represent AMD security work internally and externally.
What You Bring
- Passion for cryptographic engineering and identifying high-impact vulnerabilities early.
- Ability to characterize vulnerabilities and propose/validate scalable mitigations.
- Skill in enabling cross-team partners to adopt actionable security guidance.
- Experience with microarchitecture/RTL security for cryptographic IP or secure hardware design.
- Familiarity with SCA toolchains and lab workflows (e.g., ChipWhisperer, Keysight Inspector).
- Exposure to broader hardware security testing within a secure development lifecycle.
Academic Credentials
- Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
