Job Description

About Amazon's Finance Automation Team

Amazon's global Finance Operations processes millions of transactions daily. Manual workflows often lead to bottlenecks, errors that compound at scale, and finance teams dedicating valuable time to repetitive tasks instead of strategic analysis. This results in reduced efficiency, delayed insights, and missed opportunities to optimize operations across the company.

The Finance Automation (FinAuto) Experience Design team is dedicated to eliminating these inefficiencies. We achieve this by designing intelligent, human-in-the-loop (HITL) tools that fundamentally transform how finance operations function at scale. We leverage AI and automation to create scalable solutions, empowering Amazon's Finance Operations (FinOps) teams to work faster, more accurately, and more strategically.

Our philosophy is that AI should assist, recommend, and augment human judgment rather than replace it. We design experiences where automation handles repetitive work, allowing humans to concentrate on decisions requiring their expertise and contextual understanding.

We operate in a fast-paced, highly ambiguous environment, building both 0→1 products from scratch and evolving mature platforms used globally. Our work directly impacts the operational efficiency and financial accuracy across Amazon's worldwide operations.

We are seeking a UX Designer, Finance Automation who thrives on complexity, thinks in systems, and designs for scale. You will own the end-to-end design process across all phases of product development, from early concept exploration through launch and iteration. This involves defining experiences in close partnership with Product Management, UX Research, Engineering, and various business stakeholders.

This role demands strong systems thinking and the ability to translate loosely defined problem spaces into clear, executable design solutions. You will navigate ambiguity, program complexity, and emerging technologies while ensuring design-led programs drive meaningful operational change.

Ultimately, your designs will directly reduce operational overhead, eliminate manual errors, and empower finance teams to focus on strategic work that drives significant business value.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end design for FinOps workflows and tools.
  • Translate ambiguous problem spaces into clear, user-centered solutions.
  • Design solutions with the broader system in mind, considering how changes impact related tools, workflows, and processes.
  • Contribute to and evolve our design system and component library.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and UX Research.
  • Actively participate in peer design reviews and knowledge sharing.
  • Proactively drive customer understanding through lightweight research, concept testing, and close partnership with UX Research to inform and de-risk design decisions.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of design experience.
  • An available online portfolio demonstrating your work.
  • Experience designing software for end users or enterprise customers.
  • Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar.
  • 3+ years of delivering design solutions as a UX designer or interaction designer.
  • Bachelor's degree.
