Job Description
Description
The Global Transportation & Logistics team at Amazon is seeking a Supply Chain Manager I to optimize worldwide logistics operations. This role demands strong analytical skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and the ability to manage tactical supply chain challenges with limited guidance. You will be responsible for developing business strategies and designing workflows to determine optimal transportation selection and routing assignments, ensuring customer delivery needs are met. Leveraging your functional knowledge of procurement, transportation, and warehouse operations, you will analyze trends, identify cost savings, and maintain comprehensive process documentation including SOPs and workflow trackers. Working at the workflow and process level, you will partner with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, execute change management, drive operational excellence, and meet key operational metrics such as SLAs, productivity, and quality benchmarks. Additionally, you will manage risks, escalate roadblocks, and collaborate with Analytics and Tech teams to enhance data reporting across our data center logistics network.
Key job responsibilities
- Monitor global supply chain trends, support cross-functional strategies, and identify, achieve, and report on savings targets.
- Own and maintain workflow processes, trackers, documentation, SOPs, process flows, and FAQs.
- Execute change management for process updates and compliance.
- Troubleshoot issues independently and partner with teams to solve problems through the identification of root causes to minimize defects and future problems.
- Meet operational metrics (SLAs, productivity, quality benchmarks) while managing trade-offs between time and resources.
- Track, escalate, and resolve risks and roadblocks appropriately.
- Apply analytical and statistical skills with advanced Excel (V-lookups, Pivot Tables) to extract and analyze trend data.
- Work backward from customer requirements to ensure optimal solutions.
A day in the life
A typical day as a Supply Chain Manager I involves collaborating with internal stakeholders across Janus Operations, Quality, Operations, Systems Engineering, and Program Management teams to ensure seamless spare part delivery for AWS IPS, DCO, and ACL customers. You'll start your morning analyzing transportation data and tracking metrics to identify potential delays or quality issues, then work with cross-functional partners to troubleshoot routing challenges and optimize delivery schedules. Throughout the day, you'll maintain workflow trackers, update SOPs based on process improvements, and conduct root cause analysis when defects occur to prevent future issues. You'll participate in strategic planning sessions to identify cost savings opportunities, execute change management initiatives to improve compliance, and escalate critical risks that could impact on-time delivery. Your primary focus is solving the complex challenge of ensuring spare parts arrive on-time and in perfect condition to support worldwide data center operations—balancing trade-offs between speed, cost, and quality while meeting SLA commitments and maintaining operational excellence across the global logistics network.
