About the Role
The Software Development Engineer Amazon Tax role at Amazon Tax Platform Services involves working on one of the world's largest transactional distributed systems. You will collaborate with customers and peers across Amazon's diverse businesses to develop new features and leverage GenAI models to solve real world tax challenges.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, document, test, and operate mission-critical systems that calculate tax for global sales. The role involves handling complex problems under extreme loads by processing hundreds of millions of records and millions of service requests per minute.
- Develop scalable solutions in Java, Linux, and Oracle environments.
- Contribute to the entire software development lifecycle.
- Work with GenAI to power tax insights and automation.
- Adhere to best practices in design patterns and coding standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure audit compliance and tax law requirements globally.
Basic and Preferred Qualifications
Candidates should have 3+ years of software development experience and 2+ years in design or architecture. Preferred qualifications include hands-on experience across the full software development lifecycle and a bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Compensation
The base salary for this position ranges from $114,800 to $191,800 per year, with additional components such as equity and sign-on bonuses possible.
