Job Description

About the Software Dev Engineer Intern Role at Amazon

Are you passionate about solving real customer problems through innovative technology? Do you thrive in a collaborative team environment, working on scalable services? Imagine your code directly impacting millions of customers worldwide – that's the opportunity awaiting you as a Software Dev Engineer Intern at Amazon in Tel-Aviv.

Amazon prides itself on hiring the brightest minds in technology to innovate and build for its vast customer base. Our customer obsession is ingrained in our company DNA, making Amazon one of the world's most recognized and beloved brands.

As a Software Dev Engineer Intern, you'll be at the forefront, utilizing modern technology to tackle complex challenges. You'll witness the direct impact of your work, influencing millions of customers, sellers, and products globally. We're looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about creating new products, features, and services, comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced environment where development cycles are measured in weeks, not years.

At Amazon, ownership is a core principle. As an SDE intern, you will own the complete lifecycle of your code, from initial design through deployment and ongoing operations. This commitment to ownership, coupled with our focus on operational excellence, ensures that we deliver the highest quality solutions to our customers.

We are seeking curious, big-picture thinkers eager to shape tomorrow's technology. Amazon offers a culture of continuous learning and mentorship, supporting your growth into a high-impact engineer. Every day presents exciting new challenges and opportunities for personal and professional development.

Amazon internships in Israel are part-time, requiring interns to work 20 hours per week. Working days are finalized with the hiring manager within the local working week (Sunday-Thursday), aligning with specific team norms. Interns must ensure no conflicts prevent them from fulfilling their 20-hour weekly commitment.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate effectively with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to design, build, and operate innovative products and services that delight customers.
  • Participate in technical discussions to drive solutions forward.
  • Design and develop scalable solutions using cloud-native architectures and microservices within a large distributed computing environment.
  • Engage in code reviews and contribute to technical documentation.
  • Build and maintain resilient distributed systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, and cost-effective.
  • Leverage and contribute to the development of GenAI and AI-powered tools, enhancing development productivity while staying current with emerging technologies.
  • Write clean, maintainable code, adhering to best practices and design patterns.
  • Demonstrate operational excellence through monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues.

A Day in the Life

As an intern, you will be matched with a dedicated manager and mentor, gaining the opportunity to influence the evolution of Amazon technology and lead critical projects early in your career.

Beyond impactful project work, you'll engage with Amazonians for personal and professional development, expand your network, and participate in activities with other interns throughout your internship. Regardless of your internship's specific location, you'll be equipped with the tools to own your project and learn in a real-world setting.

About The Team & Intern Community

As an Amazon Intern, you'll join a vibrant, supportive community fostering your growth. You'll collaborate with interns globally, networking and participating in social events. You can also join specialized groups, like those focused on sustainability, to explore diverse interests.

The internship program includes a robust support system: weekly intern office hours, dedicated IT and HR support, and a program team committed to your success. This comprehensive guidance ensures you thrive.

Exclusive learning sessions will further enhance your skills, providing access to Amazon's cutting-edge learning platforms and insights from industry leaders. These structured development opportunities will prepare you for your future career steps.

Upon successful completion of the internship, you may be considered for a graduate role, allowing you to continue your journey with Amazon. Additionally, you'll receive a competitive monthly salary and access to various employee benefits.
