Role Overview

We're looking for a strong Senior Product Manager - Technical to join our team in Bangalore, India. This role requires exceptional technical depth in Generative AI, as you'll partner with Applied Scientists and Engineering teams to build next-generation AI-powered compliance and safety solutions. You should have strong technical problem-solving skills, product management expertise in AI/ML domains, excellent communication skills, and deep understanding of how to evaluate, deploy, and scale LLM-based systems in production environments. You should also possess the ability to influence people across the organization from tech leadership to business managers by creating win-win solutions, and the desire to be an individual contributor driving Amazon's next generation of AI-powered safety technology.

This role will report into the global product team that enables Trustworthy shopping experience at Amazon and ensures Safety and Compliance across Amazon stores. A primary focus of this role is defining the product strategy and roadmap for GenAI applications that automate compliance workflows, enhance decision-making accuracy, and scale our safety operations globally. You will work closely with Applied Scientists to evaluate LLM capabilities, design human-in-the-loop (HITL) systems, and establish AI governance frameworks that ensure responsible deployment of AI models in high-stakes compliance scenarios.

This role is inherently cross-functional—the professional will work closely with various partner teams across Amazon including Applied Science, Engineering, Product Management, Legal, Safety and Compliance to bring AI-powered products to market, develop and grow business opportunities, and enhance our existing tech products and features. A successful candidate will be highly analytical, resourceful, customer-focused, technically sophisticated in AI/ML domains, and will have an ability to work independently under time constraints to meet deadlines while managing complex stakeholder alignment. You should be passionate about retail, supply chain, consumer business, and building meaningful AI-powered products that transform how Amazon ensures customer safety at scale. Prior experience working in product management for AI/ML products, managing GenAI roadmaps, and working in retail or supply chain environments is preferred.

Key job responsibilities

GenAI Product Strategy & Execution
  • Define and own the 3-5 year product vision and roadmap for GenAI-powered compliance automation, balancing innovation with operational excellence
  • Partner with Applied Scientists and ML Engineers to evaluate LLM capabilities for safety and compliance workflows, including accuracy, latency, cost, and safety guardrails
  • Design and launch human-in-the-loop (HITL) systems that combine AI automation with human judgment for high-stakes compliance decisions
  • Establish metrics and evaluation frameworks for AI model performance, including precision/recall, false positive rates, cost per decision, and operational impact
  • Assess emerging LLM technologies (GPT, Claude, Llama, etc.) and recommend strategic investments for Amazon's compliance tech stack
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
  • Work with internal customers to understand their use cases, pain points, and requirements for AI-assisted compliance workflows
  • Collaborate with partner engineering teams to drive product roadmaps for compliance and safety, ensuring technical excellence and scalability
  • Challenge Science teams on model architecture decisions, technical trade-offs, and design choices to ensure optimal product outcomes
  • Address bottlenecks, provide customer input, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance business needs versus technical constraints
  • Understand and articulate the technical reasons behind product architecture decisions and recognize when technical design limits future innovation
Cross-Functional Program Management
  • Partner with multiple tech, product, and operations teams across multiple locations with varying priorities to ensure timely delivery of AI solutions
  • Clarify and drive project commitments as well as establish and maintain clear chains of accountability across Science, Engineering, and Operations
  • Drive adoption of GenAI solutions across global compliance operations through change management, training, and stakeholder engagement
  • Manage complex initiatives across numerous business models and create certainty out of ambiguity while maintaining firm grasp over operational, financial, and technical aspects
Data-Driven Decision Making
  • Query and analyze data to derive insightful findings that inform product strategy and prioritization
  • Define success metrics for AI model deployment including business impact, operational efficiency gains, and customer experience improvements
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses for GenAI investments, including model training costs, inference costs, and operational savings
AI Governance & Responsible AI
  • Establish AI governance frameworks and responsible AI practices for compliance use cases
  • Design evaluation protocols for model safety, bias detection, and fairness in automated decision-making
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance teams to ensure AI solutions meet regulatory requirements and ethical standards

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
  • Experience managing technical products or online services
  • Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in using analytical tools, such as Tableau, Qlikview, QuickSight
  • Experience in building and driving adoption of new tools
