About the Operations Manager, AMZL Role at Amazon

Our WW Operations network delivers millions of packages and smiles to Amazon customers every day. As an Operations Manager, AMZL, you will be a key leader in our team, responsible for inspiring and developing both salaried and hourly talent. This role is crucial for maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, attendance, and performance across shifts. You will empower your team with the necessary tools for success while continuously driving improvements in productivity and efficiency through data-driven decisions and analytical problem-solving. A significant part of your role will involve upholding our customer expectations, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of orders.

Amazon's Operation's workflow encompasses three main components: First mile, where products are housed for order; Middle mile, where orders are transported to specific areas; and Last mile, where products are delivered directly to the customer's door. While workflows may vary slightly across buildings, our unwavering vision and dedication to the customer remain constant.

Our expanding fulfillment network regularly launches new Operations sites, offering diverse opportunities for professional growth. We strategically place Operations Managers based on location preferences and current business needs.

Key Responsibilities and Job Elements

  • Support, mentor, and motivate your diverse salaried and hourly workforce.
  • Lead large-scope projects that have both site-level and regional impact.
  • Develop and implement productivity plans through detailed forecast reviews, determining precise productivity requirements, and collaborating with other Leaders for effective load balancing.
  • Oversee safety protocols, quality assurance, productivity metrics, and customer delivery promises.
  • Work collaboratively with various support teams including Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, Quality Assurance, and Human Resources to formulate and achieve business objectives.
  • Be able to lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours during shifts.
  • Work comfortably in an environment where noise levels can vary and be loud.
  • Operate in an environment subject to variable temperatures and weather conditions (delivery stations often include outside loading departments).
  • Continuously climb and descend stairs (applicable at sites with stairs).

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of comprehensive employee and performance management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules/shifts/work areas, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience with performance metrics, process improvement methodologies, or lean techniques.
