Job Description
ML Data Operations Associate at Amazon
This team plays a crucial role in enabling automation within Amazon Robotics Fulfillment centers. By providing real-time and offline (image/video) data auditing services, the team supports Amazon's internal Fulfillment Technologies & Robotics teams, significantly contributing to maintaining inventory accuracy.
As an ML Data Operations Associate, your primary responsibility involves thoroughly reviewing videos of stowing actions within fulfillment centers. You will apply human judgment, in conjunction with specialized tools and resources, to precisely identify and indicate the activity captured in each video. A key aspect of this role is verifying or marking product locations through a dedicated tool, ensuring the highest level of accuracy to maintain the fulfillment center's stow quality. This is an operational role focused on performing precise and thorough video/image audits with high accuracy and speed to aid in defect reduction.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Watch several hundred videos per shift, providing responses that meet goals for accuracy (quality), speed (productivity), and adherence to acceptable practices.
- Manage breaks according to pre-defined slots, ensuring 6.8 to 7 hours of active video auditing per day.
- Maintain a dedicated workspace (table, chair, sufficient lighting) if working from home, ensuring work-related data is only accessed by the employee.
The Candidate Is Expected To Demonstrate
- Willingness to undertake a non-tech, contract role for a duration of 6 months.
- Proficiency in auditing image, video, and text-based tasks.
- Ability to discern details from blurry or less sharp videos, providing accurate responses. This requires a high level of attention and focus on the screen.
- Commitment to achieving incremental targets and goals related to quality and productivity.
- A fast pace of implementation and consistent performance.
- Flexibility to work in rotational shifts, including night shifts, within remote teams, and a strong capability as a team player.
- Readiness to report to the office for a few days when required (applicable to associates working from home).
- Willingness to keep the laptop camera on during virtual meetings.
A Day in the Life
Associates operate within a 24x7 environment, working rotational shifts. Each shift is 9 hours, inclusive of pre-scheduled breaks. Shift timings are subject to change approximately every 3-4 months or based on business needs. Night shift allowances will be provided as per applicable Amazon's work policy for those working night shifts.
Weekly offs are rotational, comprising two consecutive days off (a 5-day working week), which may not necessarily be Saturday and Sunday, or as determined by business discretion.
About The Team
The Data Auditing Operations team provides essential human support to Amazon Fulfillment facilities. The goal is to facilitate hands-free active stowing by conducting visual audits on videos and images. Brief videos, typically 15-20 seconds in duration, are sent to the Operations Team for human auditors to review with information about products being stored. These videos require thorough review and auditing using the best human judgment to enhance the effectiveness of the automated process. This contributes directly to maintaining stow quality at the fulfillment center, with associates' performance being continuously evaluated for improvements and coaching.
