About the role
Manager, Economic Development Policy
Amazon's Economic Development Policy (EDP) team seeks an experienced professional to support Amazon Leo’s expansion in the Americas. Significant travel will be required.
Role Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will develop and drive strategies to support Amazon Leo projects and unlock business opportunities at national, regional, and local levels. They will engage with economic development officials, investment agencies, and permitting agencies, collaborating closely with Leo's infrastructure, real estate, construction, regulatory, legal, public relations, and other public policy stakeholders. The successful candidate will be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, and able to demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
Export Control Requirement
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Economic Development)
- Experience in working directly with government officials and regulatory bodies
- Experience managing projects and working independently
- 8+ years of experience in government, intergovernmental organizations, or private sector
- An ability and desire to travel is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or above in a relevant discipline (e.g. Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Economic Development)
- Knowledge of fiber and satellite infrastructure, with experience in siting and permitting infrastructure
- Leadership experience in industry associations or coalitions
- Familiarity with telecommunications, IT, and cloud computing regulations
- Exceptional research and analytical skills

Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
