Technician RME (Reliability Maintenance Engineering)

As a Maintenance Technician with Amazon's Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the continuous operation of essential machinery supporting our business. You will be responsible for the maintenance of a wide range of equipment and workspaces, adhering to the highest health and safety standards. Your contributions will directly impact colleague safety and the prevention of machine downtime. Our RME technicians are dedicated to improving equipment availability and quality, and optimizing our operational environment.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Perform proactive and preventive maintenance tasks on site equipment.
• Carry out reactive repair tasks and diagnose faults within a functional distribution center.
• Utilize the best tools to optimize equipment operation.
• Adhere to all health and safety policies and practices.
• Support the development and progression of apprentices on site.
• Work on continuous improvement projects and apply best practices across multiple EU sites.

A Day in the Life

Our RME technicians are site-based to ensure rapid response to any technical issues affecting operations. You will conduct planned preventive maintenance on site equipment to ensure optimal functioning and safety. In the event of a breakdown, you will respond promptly, investigate the root cause, and resolve the issue efficiently. You will also be tasked with providing suggestions for sustainable process improvements.

Collaborating with experienced colleagues, you will handle daily maintenance tasks such as painting and plumbing, and liaise with external contractors when necessary. Working as part of a team, you will ensure our sites receive 24-hour support, enabling Amazon to deliver products at its renowned speed.

Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team is committed to ensuring our equipment operates at peak performance. Guided by experienced managers, we are an analytical and collaborative team with deep technical knowledge and a strong team spirit. We work together to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair assets across Amazon's global network of fulfillment centers. Some team members hold leadership positions, overseeing work on exciting technologies, some unique to Amazon.

From installing automated packaging systems to overseeing general site maintenance and repairing essential fulfillment equipment, our team keeps the most technical aspects of Amazon running smoothly. We ensure buildings comply with legislation for everyone's safety and to maintain full operational capacity at our sites. Our ultimate goal is to minimize downtime at Amazon's key logistics sites, ensuring customers receive their orders on time. We often work early or late hours to perform maintenance with minimal disruption, including night shifts. If a more effective methodology is identified, we possess the skills to develop and implement new processes or cutting-edge technologies, such as Amazon Robotics or our sophisticated sortation robot.

Basic Qualifications

• Technological or professional baccalaureate (or international equivalent) in an engineering discipline or other engineering certification validated by an internship.
• Previous experience as a qualified engineer.
• Previous experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance.
• Native proficiency in the local language, both spoken and written.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of condition-based machine monitoring.
• Knowledge of printing and application machinery.
• Experience in fault diagnosis and maintenance of conveyor or automation systems.
