Jr. Data Scientist at Amazon

The Jr. Data Scientist role at Amazon offers a unique employment opportunity for students to gain valuable on-the-job data science and analytics experience while completing their education. This program provides excellent mentoring within an Amazon team, allowing participants to work on exciting, meaningful projects that directly impact real Amazon customers. Each Jr. Data Scientist is paired 1:1 with an Amazon Jr. Data Science Mentor, receiving guidance and support across all aspects of their role, including skill development, career advisement, and project collaboration. Upon successful completion of the Jr. Data Scientist Program, opportunities for full-time employment may be available at an Amazon corporate site.

This role is an integral part of the Jr. Developer Program, a distinctive internship program with several key features:

  • Working schedules are flexible and can be re-arranged each quarter to accommodate class schedules.
  • Participants benefit from excellent mentoring provided by full-time data scientists, applied scientists, and business intelligence engineers.
  • Jr. Data Scientists are given responsibilities that prepare them to enter the workforce after graduation with substantial “real world” data science and analytics experience.

Participants consistently acknowledge the valuable learning experience fostered by the high caliber of their teams, the mentorship offered by experienced Amazonians, and the challenge of being a principal contributor to science and software products.

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university Master's program.
  • Majoring in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline.
  • Graduating in June 2027 and beyond.
  • Ability to work year-round: part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer.
