Role Overview: Data Scientist, ADE Analytics

As a Data Scientist on our team, you will dive into complex data, develop robust statistical methodologies, and deliver crucial product insights that directly influence the design and optimization of our Alexa solutions. You will collaborate closely with Analytics and Applied Science colleagues, building scalable frameworks and mechanisms to distribute data solutions across the organization. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about leveraging AI to enhance everyday life.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Problem-Solving: Analyze intricate data to uncover patterns, guide product decisions, and diagnose root causes of anomalies. Develop analytical and modeling approaches that drive product and engineering actions, directly improving customer experiences. Independently identify problems and opportunities with product partners, applying a diverse range of data science techniques and tools to solve them. Use data-driven insights to inform product development and work with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate solutions into scalable, automated frameworks.
• Data Infrastructure: Construct robust data pipelines and identify novel data sources from both within Alexa and across Amazon for analytical leverage. Acquire data by developing necessary SQL and ETL queries.
• Communication: Articulate complex ideas effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders and counterparts, translating causal insights into actionable recommendations. Amplify team efforts through data visualizations, presentations, and dashboards to boost awareness and adoption of data assets and product insights. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor colleagues to foster a culture of continuous learning and development.

Basic Qualifications

• 2+ years of data scientist experience.
• 2+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, Matlab, etc.).
• 2+ years of experience with machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, and parameters that affect their performance.
• Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), or equivalent experience working in STEM fields.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of machine learning concepts and their application to reasoning and problem-solving.
• Proficiency in Python, Perl, or another scripting language.
• Experience in an ML or data scientist role within a large technology company.
• Proven experience working on multi-team, cross-disciplinary projects.
• Experience applying quantitative analysis to solve business problems and make data-driven business decisions.
• Strong ability to effectively communicate complex concepts through written and verbal communication.
