Key Responsibilities of an Amazon LEO Mission Operations Engineer
As an Amazon LEO Mission Operations Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the overall operational success of the mission at a systems level. This involves intricate coordination between various engineering teams across both ground and space systems to achieve mission objectives. Given the vast scale of the mission, a significant part of your role will involve driving automation and fostering operational excellence. You will actively identify areas for improvement and initiate changes to enhance the productivity and efficiency of the satellite fleet.
Your responsibilities will include meticulous coordination and preparation for each satellite launch and subsequent on-orbit demonstrations. You will design and execute operational rehearsals, and lead automation efforts with a strong emphasis on scalability, aiming for the constellation to achieve peak performance with minimal to no manual intervention. Furthermore, you will be responsible for developing comprehensive concepts of operation for missions and experiments, leading launch and early operations phases, developing and performing in-depth analysis on system data, and continuously identifying mechanisms for further operational enhancements.
A Day in the Life
Your daily activities will involve close collaboration with internal engineering teams to define and refine operational processes. You will continuously seek out opportunities for optimization and automation, working directly with software and hardware teams to implement these improvements. Ultimately, you will hold direct responsibility for the operational success of the Amazon LEO mission.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with Linux/Unix
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
Export Control Requirement
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
