Job Description
About AWS European Sovereign Cloud
AWS is set to introduce the inaugural European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a major development in Utility Computing (UC). As part of the AWS Managed Operations team, you will lead operations and development teams delivering high-availability AWS services such as EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock exclusively for EU customers.
Role Responsibilities
You will oversee the launch of the ESC in 2025, work closely with global AWS teams, and drive improvements in availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency. Daily tasks include reviewing system health, diagnosing anomalies, executing change management processes, and scripting to improve operational diagnostics.
Daily Operations
- Review operational health and identify system anomalies.
- Execute changes following structured change management processes.
- Resolve team backlogs and troubleshoot incidents on-call.
- Develop scripts to streamline root cause analysis.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Ruby.
- Fundamentals in Linux, networking, and system performance troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS or similar cloud services.
- Expertise in high-availability distributed systems and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (CDK, CloudFormation, etc.).
Eligibility & Additional Information
Applicants must be EU nationals residing in the EU. Amazon provides relocation support as needed. Participation in on-call rotations is required.
