Do you like to solve the most complex and high scale data management challenges in the world today? Do you like to build scaling mechanisms as a force multiplier? As a Database Specialist Solutions Architect (SA) you will design complete solution architectures based on AWS database services. Have you developed complex applications? Are you an experienced Oracle/SQL Server/NoSQL Platform Specialist? How about PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Casandra, or DynamoDB? Have you migrated Applications from one Database Engine to another? Have you designed and architected complex database solutions incorporating both relational and non-relational technologies? As a Database Specialist SA you will collaborate with our customers and partners on key engagements. You will engage with Database Specialists Sellers and other stakeholders supporting sales activities such as customer discovery, ideating, white board solutioning, presenting, educating, leading technical deep dives, and other technical sales support activities for an assigned US division and territory. You will develop and proof-of-concept projects, technical workshops, and support implementation projects in order to develop or migrate applications from on-premise databases like Oracle/SQL Server to AWS, eg. RDS, Aurora-PostgreSQL/MySQL, DynamoDB or other database services on AWS. You will focus on customer solutions that depend on databases, designing and deploying future state data services and reference architectures to enable our customers to make the most of AWS managed databases.Key job responsibilities
- Provide AWS customers with deep technical expertise and strategic guidance to allow them to effectively use AWS Database Services across their business, both tactically and strategically
- Collaborate with AWS specialist sales, marketing, and product teams to develop innovative solutions for customers' most challenging business problems
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers' executives, helping them navigate cloud transformation and digital innovation
- Lead architectural reviews and workshops focused on common use cases, industry best practices, helping customers jump-start their AWS migration journey
- Design and architect complex database solutions based on relational or non-relational technologies
- Champion industry best practices through technical thought leadership content, including blogs, white papers, and reference architectures
- Present at key industry events including AWS re:Invent, AWS Summit, and other conferences
- Educate customers on AWS value proposition for data management
- Provide feedback to AWS product teams on customer specific requirements and act as primary point of contact for urgent customer issues in your technical specialty
- Stay current with emerging trends in the Database, Analytics, and Generative Artificial Intelligence technologies to help customers innovate and maintain competitive advantage
- Travel approximately 25% on average, mostly in the US, supporting customer and stakeholder needs

- 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- Knowledge of software development tools and methodologies
- Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients
- Deep knowledge and experience with at least one commercial or open source relational database (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL), or non-relational database (e.g. MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB)
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience
- Experience working with end user or developer communities
- Experience in a technical role within a sales organization
