About Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Amazon Web Services (AWS) Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) drives revenue, adoption, and growth for customers ranging from small- to mid-market to enterprise-level, including the public sector. This Solutions Architect role is specifically within the public sector team of Amazon Web Services India Private Limited.
The team focuses on central government ministries, state and local governments, public sector units, education institutions, EdTech startups (including India-based Unicorns), nonprofits, and healthcare. Our mission is to empower public institutions in India to achieve significant citizen impact through a technology generation leap, utilizing AWS cloud services across Skilling, Smart Infrastructure, Healthcare, and Inclusion (Physical, Digital, and Financial).
We pride ourselves on customer obsession. Our solutions architecture teams are at the forefront, ensuring customer success with AWS technologies. Team members leverage deep AWS knowledge, collaborating with sales and partner teams to shape solution proposals, architectures, and implementations. Key Job Responsibilities
As a Solutions Architect, you will provide a consistent approach for customers and partners to evaluate architectures and implement scalable designs. Your work will be guided by the five pillars of the AWS Well-Architected Framework: operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimization.
Success in this role requires excellent customer-facing communication skills, representing technical solutions to senior leadership. You must thrive on diving deep into complex technology environments, expressing them through industry-standard architecture diagrams and well-articulated solution narratives. Staying updated on the latest technology trends and possessing a sense of urgency for learning about customer businesses and relevant technology solutions across industries is essential. Solutions Architects enjoy travel, engaging with diverse customers, managing competing priorities, and demonstrating urgency to deliver results.
A Day in the Life
Your primary responsibilities as a Solutions Architect will involve:
- Establishing technical credibility in sales cycles for Amazon platforms and technologies, collaborating with the sales team to secure new business.
- Capturing and conveying best practices, providing prescriptive guidance on application and systems design through direct customer/partner interaction, technical content development, events, evangelism, training, and operational event support.
- Helping drive the evolution of Amazon platforms and technologies by providing direct input and feedback from the field to engineering teams.
Additionally, tenured team members are tasked with recruiting, hiring, and developing top Solutions Architect talent, managing resources efficiently, and driving cross-organizational initiatives.

Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of specific technology domain experience (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).
- 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting experience in applications and infrastructures.
- 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting experience in the software or Internet industries.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries.
- Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.
- Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective.
