About the Role
As a Senior Database Consultant, you will guide customers and partners through the planning, preparation, and delivery of complex database transformation and migration projects tailored to their specific needs. You will cultivate strong relationships with C-level executives to help shape their cloud migration and transformation roadmaps.
On a daily basis, you will assess organizational readiness for cloud adoption, define goals, objectives, and business outcomes with customers, and align a cloud vision to achieve these results. Your role involves identifying solutions to overcome technical and organizational challenges for customers, partners, or internal teams. You will also collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to support pre-sales activities. This role requires experience delivering IT solutions in an agile environment, planning, organizing, and managing all phases of a project lifecycle to ensure successful delivery.
Eligibility for UK Government Security Clearance is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Employ customer-facing skills to effectively represent AWS within customer environments and lead discussions with senior personnel on trade-offs, best practices, project management, and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate closely with AWS Platform Service Engineering and Architecture teams to ensure successful project consulting engagements.
- Work directly with customers’ technical resources to design and recommend solutions based on identified requirements.
- Think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges within an enterprise environment.
- Analyze on-premises database environments, including Oracle, SQL Server, and other Commercial DB Engines, for migration to Open Source Engines like Aurora-PostgreSQL/MySQL, RedShift, or DynamoDB.
- Consult on optimal design of database environments, analyze complex distributed production deployments, and provide recommendations for performance optimization.
- Develop innovative solutions to intricate business and technology problems.
Basic Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with migrating mission-critical database environments between platforms.
- Relevant Application/Database replatforming experience (Commercial to Open Source Engines).
- Experience driving innovation initiatives and best practices across multiple development teams or customers, with a proven track record of implementing replication technologies such as Oracle GoldenGate, Amazon Database Migration Service, or similar.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior consulting experience working directly with customers and partners.
