Overview

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a leading global cloud service provider, offering virtualised infrastructure, storage, networking, and messaging services worldwide. AWS Security seeks a Security Systems Engineer to ensure the integrity and security of systems and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Obtain or maintain required Australian Government Security Vetting clearance.
• Monitor security events, manage incidents, and respond effectively.
• Develop and tune SIEM detections, dashboards, and correlation rules.
• Conduct proactive threat hunting and analysis using frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK and NIST.
• Collaborate with IT, network, and application teams to remediate vulnerabilities.
• Create metrics dashboards and produce executive-level security reports.
• Perform on-call duties and contribute to continuous improvement of SOC processes.

A Day in the Life

Monitor real-time detections, analyze logs, write detection rules, and threat hunt across systems to identify breaches early. Work closely with security and service teams to enforce robust security measures.
