Role Overview: Procurement Category Manager, Controls

As a Procurement Category Manager, Controls, you will be instrumental in creating and implementing sourcing strategies for the Controls category. This role involves close collaboration with internal business partners and suppliers to mitigate risks and reduce costs for Amazon. You will be responsible for developing mechanisms and metrics to ensure supplier accountability for performance and delivery, while driving results through competitive bidding, negotiation, and data-driven analysis of market trends.

The ideal candidate possesses a long-term strategic mindset, can manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, and communicates effectively to influence stakeholders and suppliers at all levels. This role demands a collaborative approach alongside significant autonomy. Key Job Responsibilities

  • Manage the Controls procurement category within the CAPEX domain across the APJC region.
  • Understand customer needs and concerns across categories and regions to influence priorities.
  • Provide in-depth knowledge of the supply market and supplier capabilities, both technically and geographically.
  • Develop mechanisms and metrics to track supplier performance related to delivery, quality, and cost.
  • Analyze category data and metrics to establish and implement Procurement category strategies.
  • Achieve cost savings through bidding, negotiations, and strategic initiatives.
  • Create supplier scorecards to measure and track supplier performance.
  • Lead business reviews to discuss best practices, address issues, improve supplier performance, and strengthen partnerships.
  • Innovate within the procurement space by automating or improving tools and processes to enhance the Procurement Lifecycle.
  • Provide support throughout the contracting process and manage contracts post-execution.
  • Travel of up to 20% may be required.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of procurement, supply chain, inventory management, contract management, lease administration, or operations experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant strategic sourcing experience including vendor negotiations, global contract management, process improvement, operational and financial analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Advanced Excel, SQL, Tableau, Python.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of program, project, product management, or leading a product implementation process experience.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in data centers, infrastructure service providers, or related technology companies.
