About the Engagement Manager, Professional Services Role at AWS
The Amazon Web Services Professional Services (ProServe) team is actively seeking a highly skilled and versatile Engagement Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in leading the successful delivery of complex cloud solution projects. You will combine deep technical expertise with robust project leadership skills to drive successful implementations of AWS-based solutions for our clients. Your ability to bridge business requirements with technical solutions, facilitate technical discussions, and ensure alignment with customer outcomes will be critical.
You will apply AWS frameworks like Well-Architected and the Cloud Adoption Framework, demonstrating technical credibility across diverse stakeholders. This involves distilling customer needs into clear technical requirements, decomposing complex problems, and making informed trade-off decisions that consider performance, scalability, security, and business impact.
With strong technology and program/project management experience, you will validate technical solutions against business goals, identify when additional technical evaluation is necessary, and proactively manage technical risks. Achieving and maintaining relevant AWS certifications and developing domain-specific expertise are key expectations. As an Engagement Manager, you will effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and business audiences. This role offers a path to lead increasingly complex technical projects, shape cross-organizational technical strategies, and establish best practices within your domain. You will apply your management and leadership capabilities to successfully execute project plans, identify and manage risks, resolve issues, escalate as appropriate, and drive projects to successful completion, consistently exceeding customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and managing complex cloud migration and implementation projects.
- Leveraging comprehensive knowledge of AWS services, architectures, and best practices to guide technical decisions and strategic planning.
- Bridging business requirements with technical solutions, facilitating engineering discussions, and ensuring alignment with customer business outcomes.
- Distilling customer needs into clear technical requirements and mapping them to business outcomes.
- Decomposing complex technical problems into actionable, deliverable solutions.
- Contributing to technical documentation and defining documentation standards.

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in cloud computing.
- Experience in project management of technical programs.
- 3+ years of experience with software development life cycle (SDLC); Waterfall/Agile/iterative methodologies.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS experience preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate.
- Strong understanding of AWS services, architectures, and best practices.
- Experience applying AWS frameworks like Well-Architected and Cloud Adoption Framework.
- Proven ability to establish technical credibility with engineering teams and senior technical decision-makers.
