Overview
AWS is launching the inaugural European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) and seeks experienced systems engineers for cloud operations. In this role, you will be a key member of AWS Managed Operations, building and leading teams to deliver high-availability AWS services exclusively for EU customers.
Responsibilities
As a DevOPS Systems Engineer, Managed Operations:
- Oversee the launch of ESC in 2025.
- Collaborate with global AWS teams and technology leaders.
- Improve operational performance, including availability, reliability, latency, and efficiency.
- Review system health, diagnose anomalies, and execute change management procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotations to resolve incidents.
About the Role
This position is part of the AWS Utility Computing organization. You will support a broad range of services such as EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock, and work on enhancing both standard and innovative cloud operations. Relocation support is available within the European Union.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications: EU residency and nationality, a bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent, scripting or development experience (Bash, Python, etc.), and Linux/networking fundamentals.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with AWS cloud services, operating 24x7 high-availability systems, performance tuning, monitoring frameworks, and infrastructure as code tools.
