Job Title
Senior Developer Platform Engineer
Focus
Developer Productivity, from local dev to build & test pipelines to release readiness, with AI enablement at every stage.
Role Summary
You are contributing to building and enhancing the "Developer Inner Loop", by maintaining platform capabilities and implementing AI-powered tooling that improves developer productivity across local development, CI/CD, testing infrastructure, and release workflows. You will partner closely with architects and fellow teammates to translate architectural vision, with a primary focus on hands-on implementation and operational excellence. You will empower our product teams to ship with unprecedented speed, precision, and confidence.
Core Competencies & Responsibilities
- SDLC Execution & Enablement: Implement enhancements to the software delivery lifecycle that reduce friction for product engineering teams. Build and maintain standardized CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows based on defined architecture. Support the adoption of ephemeral environments and streamlined local development tooling. Drive automation across build, test, and deployment workflows.
- Shift-Left Quality & Governance: Implement and maintain automated testing frameworks and infrastructure aligned with shift-left quality goals. Enable teams to integrate component and end-to-end testing into their workflows. Contribute to reliability, performance, and scalability of testing systems. Provide tooling and infrastructure that enable teams to own quality.
- AI-Enabled Tooling: Integrate AI-based tools and workflows into the developer experience as defined by platform strategy. Identify and implement practical use cases for AI within established guidelines. Support automation of routine engineering tasks such as testing, debugging, and code quality checks
- Platform Implementation & Operations: Build and enhance core components of the developer platform with a focus on stability and usability. Contribute to identifying and resolving bottlenecks in developer workflows and platform performance. Support data collection for developer productivity and platform performance metrics. Develop scripts and lightweight tooling to automate platform capabilities and workflows. Support engineering teams in adopting platform tooling and workflows.
Experience
- Senior: 5+ years in progressively complex software engineering roles
- Proven experience implementing platform, infrastructure, or developer tooling solutions
Nice-to-have Technical Skills
- Experienced at end-to-end delivery of internal engineering systems - from discovery and tech approach definition to rollout and iteration.
- Expertise in scoping and delegating work to teammates.
- Microservices deployment on Kubernetes (AWS, GCP, Azure), with various strategies (canary, blue-green, etc.)
- Building and maintaining efficient CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins) to automate testing and deployment.
- GitOps, ArgoCD, local dev and build tooling (such as Gradle/Bazel)
- Experience supporting developer experience (DevEx) tooling
- Scripting and automation, specific for release and build management
Compensation
Alteryx is committed to fair, equitable, and transparent compensation. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as your relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
The salary range for this role in the United States is $136,000 - $177,000.
Employees may also be eligible for a wide range of other benefits, such as a bonus or commission, medical, retirement, financial, wellness, time off, employee discounts, and others.
