Job Overview

Play a key role in delivering next-generation maritime defence software solutions with the Junior Software Configuration Management Engineer role. This hybrid position involves secure systems configuration, scripting, and deployment across Linux and Windows platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support software configuration, packaging, and deployment tasks.
  • Maintain and manage source control tools such as Git and Bitbucket.
  • Automate processes using PowerShell, Bash, or Batch scripting.
  • Apply patches, manage Group Policy, and enhance cybersecurity.
  • Test deployments using virtual machines and secure physical hardware platforms.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure compliance with security standards.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar; or equivalent technical military background. Must have hands-on experience with SCCM, Windows PowerShell or Bash scripting, and experience with Bitbucket, Artifactory, JIRA, and Git. Eligibility for UK SC Security Clearance is required.

Desirable Skills

  • Exposure to quality and lifecycle tools.
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with virtualised defence platforms and secure deployment pipelines.
  • Understanding of SElinux hardening practices and certificate chain processes.
