About the Role - DevOps Engineer – Build & Release Systems

Take charge of the CI/CD and release process for a high-integrity software programme supporting advanced underwater technology. You will embed DevOps principles into an engineering team delivering software under strict safety, traceability, and integration standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain software build pipelines using Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, and Artifactory.
  • Deploy and administer development tools including JIRA and other DevOps utilities.
  • Drive improvements to the CI/CD process for high-frequency delivery.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to maintain configuration traceability.
  • Participate in reporting meetings and contribute to dashboards and risk registers.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience with a strong background in C++.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline build and optimisation.
  • Hands-on experience using Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, and Artifactory.
  • Familiarity with languages such as Java and scripting with Ansible, Shell/Bash, or Python.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies including Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
  • Awareness of containerisation with Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Eligibility for UK SC Security Clearance (or must be eligible).

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with automated testing and software assurance tools.
  • Exposure to Linux-based infrastructure and IAC with Ansible.
  • Familiarity with static analysis and quality control tools.

Location & Clearance

This position is based on-site in Manchester. Applicants must hold or be eligible for UK SC Clearance.
