Job Description
Take charge of the CI/CD and release process on a high-integrity software programme supporting advanced underwater technology. You'll be embedding DevOps principles into an engineering team delivering software to tight safety, traceability, and integration standards. From pipeline design to automation and deployment, this is a highly hands-on role where you’ll ensure the software reaches formal release with quality and repeatability.
Location: Manchester (On Site)
Clearance: Must hold or be eligible for UK SC Clearance
Experience Level: 5+ years of relevant experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain software build pipelines using Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, and Artifactory
- Deploy and administer development tools including JIRA, Bitbucket, and other DevOps utilities
- Drive improvements to the CI/CD process, enabling high-frequency delivery and robust integration
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams to maintain configuration traceability
- Attend team and project reporting meetings, feeding into dashboards and risk registers
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Strong experience in C++ (mandatory) and familiarity with Java
- CI/CD pipeline build and optimisation experience
- Hands-on with Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, Artifactory
- Experience with Ansible, Shell/Bash/Python scripting
- Understanding of Agile processes (Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe)
- Awareness of containerisation using tools like Docker or Kubernetes
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline OR a relevant technical military background with equivalent hands-on engineering experience. Must be eligible for UK SC Security Clearance (Minimum 5 Years in the UK)
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with automated testing and software assurance tools
- Exposure to Linux-based infrastructure and IAC with Ansible
- Familiarity with static analysis and quality control tools
