About the Role - DevOps Engineer – Build & Release Systems
Take charge of the CI/CD and release process for a high-integrity software programme supporting advanced underwater technology. You will embed DevOps principles into an engineering team delivering software under strict safety, traceability, and integration standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain software build pipelines using Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, and Artifactory.
- Deploy and administer development tools including JIRA and other DevOps utilities.
- Drive improvements to the CI/CD process for high-frequency delivery.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to maintain configuration traceability.
- Participate in reporting meetings and contribute to dashboards and risk registers.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience with a strong background in C++.
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline build and optimisation.
- Hands-on experience using Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, and Artifactory.
- Familiarity with languages such as Java and scripting with Ansible, Shell/Bash, or Python.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies including Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
- Awareness of containerisation with Docker or Kubernetes.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Eligibility for UK SC Security Clearance (or must be eligible).
Desirable Skills
- Experience with automated testing and software assurance tools.
- Exposure to Linux-based infrastructure and IAC with Ansible.
- Familiarity with static analysis and quality control tools.

Location & Clearance
This position is based on-site in Manchester. Applicants must hold or be eligible for UK SC Clearance.
