Position Overview

The Weapons Systems Safety Engineer develops and executes program-specific System Safety Assessment Plans for weapons, munitions, and loitering munition systems. This role provides subject matter expertise by performing hazard assessments, safety analyses, and technical documentation to support design, development, testing, and sustainment of advanced weapon systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain System Safety Program Plans in compliance with DoD regulations, MIL-STD-882E, and MIL-STD-1316.
  • Conduct safety analyses such as fault tree, FMECA, and explosive safety assessments.
  • Document hazard analyses for fuzing, initiation systems, energetic materials, and warhead safety standards.
  • Collaborate with program management, engineering, test organizations, and regulatory bodies.
  • Utilize MBSE tools (Cameo) for hazard tracking within digital system architectures.
  • Lead safety working groups, provide training, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Develop technical reports, white papers, and safety documentation for certification.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in System Safety Engineering for weapons and related energetic systems.
  • Expertise in hazard analyses and compliance with DoD and MIL-STD standards.
  • Experience with MBSE using Cameo and digital integration of safety data.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Engineering.
  • Experience with loitering munitions or missile systems.
  • Proficiency in technical documentation and safety reporting tools.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range between $150,000 and $170,000, based on qualifications and experience. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with matching, paid time off, parental leave, and mentorship programs.
