Job Description
We're Hiring: Performance Tester
We’re looking for a Performance Tester who can ensure our applications are scalable, reliable, and fast under real-world load. You’ll work closely with engineering, DevOps, and product teams to design performance strategies, detect bottlenecks, and drive optimization.
Role Purpose
Evaluate system reliability, scalability, and responsiveness through structured performance testing. You’ll build test frameworks, analyze metrics, and help teams deliver stable, high-quality releases.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain performance test scripts for web, API, and backend systems
- Define load, stress, endurance, scalability, and capacity test strategies
- Establish baselines and track regressions over time
- Execute tests using k6 and similar tools
- Analyze metrics: CPU, memory, throughput, latency, response time, error rates
- Identify bottlenecks and root causes using diagnostics and profiling
- Deliver performance reports with optimization recommendations
- Integrate performance tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Partner with DevOps, developers, and architects on performance criteria
- Support testers with framework training and best practices
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and release readiness checks
Must-Have Requirements
- 2+ years in performance testing or performance engineering
- Hands-on experience with k6 (JMeter/Gatling/LoadRunner are a plus)
- Strong understanding of performance testing concepts and methodologies
- Experience testing APIs and backend services at scale
- Ability to analyze system metrics, logs, and distributed architectures
- CI/CD experience with tools like Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket
- Familiarity with APM tools such as Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, Dynatrace, or AppDynamics
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering (or equivalent experience)
Nice to Have
- Scripting skills in JavaScript, Python, Java, or Groovy
- Cloud & container exposure: Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, Docker, Kubernetes
- Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Helm
- Experience with Jira for defect tracking
- Performance framework design and automation at scale
