Overview of the Product Strategist Role

Your team is an integral part of the Product Solutions & Marketing (PSM) function at Allianz Global Investors, dedicated to ensuring our product offering and market positioning optimally meet client needs. This function acts as a crucial link between Investments and Distribution, driving overall business success. PSM is a center of excellence, housing expertise across Products, Product Specialists, Marketing, and Digital Business, focusing on all product and solution dimensions.

You will join as an AVP or VP Product Strategist within the PSM Strategy team, reporting directly to the Head of PSM Strategy. This pivotal role involves shaping the strategic agenda for PSM, significantly influencing Allianz Global Investors' overarching strategic direction.

The ideal candidate possesses a consultative mindset, a passion for in-depth market research, and the ability to translate intelligence into compelling strategic narratives. Innately curious, you seek to understand the 'why' behind data. You will lead cross-functional strategic projects, foster effective collaboration with internal stakeholders, design and execute innovative initiatives, and partner with senior leadership to ensure our product offering is competitively positioned and forward-looking.

This role is based in our London or Frankfurt office.

What You Will Do

• Execute strategic priorities for PSM, ensuring alignment with broader corporate strategy and firmwide objectives.
• Design frameworks and deliver deep industry research on competitive market dynamics and industry developments, including innovation trends or regulatory changes.
• Craft persuasive, fact-based narratives and actionable strategic recommendations in partnership with the Head of PSM Strategy.
• Establish strong relationships and manage senior stakeholders within PSM, as well as cross-functionally with partners in Investments and Distribution.
• Drive initiatives within product innovation, including the design and implementation of new product concepts and solutions.
• Serve as a key advisor to senior management, preparing decision papers for the Chief Product Officer and Executive Committee.
• Represent PSM in firmwide forums, with potential for external exposure through participation in industry panels and roundtables.

What You Bring

• Advanced degree or additional certifications (MBA equivalent or CFA preferred, but not required).
• 3-7+ years of experience in a similar role or with transferable skills from strategy consulting, asset management, or financial services.
• Strong understanding of the asset management industry, its end-to-end value chain, competitive market dynamics, and regulatory landscape.
• High strategic agility and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI is a plus.
• Ability to use Microsoft Copilot, coupled with a strong commitment to ethical and responsible AI practices.
• Excellent English communication and collaboration skills.
• German language fluency is a plus.
