About the role
Senior Machine Learning Expert (AI Training)
About The Role
What if your deep expertise in machine learning could directly shape how the world's most advanced AI systems think, plan, and solve problems?
We're looking for Senior Machine Learning Experts to author high-fidelity reasoning traces — the structured, step-by-step records of how an intelligent system should approach and solve complex real-world tasks. This data becomes the backbone of training for frontier LLMs, directly influencing how reliably they reason, use tools, and make decisions at scale.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for senior ML practitioners who want meaningful, intellectually stimulating work at the cutting edge of AI development.
Organization: Alignerr
Type: Hourly Contract
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
Location: Remote
What You'll Do
- Author complex, high-fidelity reasoning traces that capture how an LLM should plan, reason, and act across sophisticated technical tasks
- Design data strategies that enable LLMs to navigate intricate, multi-step real-world decision-making scenarios
- Review and mentor structured traces to ensure optimal documentation of planning, tool use, and logical progression
- Apply senior-level architectural insight to guarantee consistent, reliable model decision-making patterns
- Identify gaps and failure modes in AI reasoning and contribute structured solutions through annotated examples
Who You Are
- Seasoned ML practitioner with significant experience in machine learning, deep learning, or related technical fields
- Skilled at decomposing complex problems into clear, logical, well-documented steps
- Experienced with advanced LLM evaluation, training methodologies, or model reasoning workflows
- Detail-oriented thinker who communicates technical concepts with precision and clarity
- Self-directed and comfortable working independently in an asynchronous remote environment
Nice to Have
- Prior experience with data annotation, data quality assurance, or AI evaluation systems
- Top-tier Kaggle competition results (Grandmaster or Master level), demonstrating deep expertise in model performance and feature engineering
- Familiarity with prompt engineering, chain-of-thought methods, or reasoning trace construction
- Background in AI safety, alignment research, or RLHF workflows
Why Join Us
- Work on frontier AI projects in direct collaboration with leading research labs
- Fully remote and async — work on your own schedule, from anywhere in the world
- Freelance autonomy with intellectually stimulating, high-impact work
- Rare opportunity to contribute directly to how the next generation of LLMs learn to reason
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
