About the Role of DevOps / IaC Engineer at Labelbox
Join Labelbox as a DevOps / IaC Engineer and play a crucial role in shaping the data that powers frontier AI. This is a contract, hourly position with a flexible, fully remote, and asynchronous schedule, requiring a minimum of 15 hours per week. We are looking for talented individuals primarily based in the United States.
What You'll Do
- Design and maintain robust cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) specifically for AI development pipelines.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using leading tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar technologies.
- Monitor and continuously improve system performance, reliability, and scalability to ensure optimal operation.
- Proactively identify and efficiently resolve infrastructure bottlenecks or deployment issues to minimize disruption.
- Clearly and concisely summarize your troubleshooting, design, and optimization decisions for effective collaboration and documentation.
Who You Are
You are a great fit for this role if you possess:
- Fluent English language skills with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Extensive expertise in DevOps principles and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), including hands-on experience with containers (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, etc.).
- A minimum of 4+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or infrastructure roles, with a dedicated focus on IaC.
- Deep hands-on experience with Terraform is highly preferred, though experience with Pulumi or AWS CloudFormation is also valuable.
- Proficiency with at least one major cloud provider (AWS is preferred; Azure or GCP are also acceptable).
- A strong understanding of core networking concepts, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), security groups, and resource policies.
- Comfort and skill in writing modular, DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself) IaC, and a responsible approach to state management practices.
- While a Bachelor’s degree (or pursuing one) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is beneficial, a Master's or PhD is preferred.
- A deep interest in AI/ML infrastructure, cloud computing, or secure system design.
