Clinical Research Assistant at Bayside Health

This is a fixed-term position until 30th November 2026, working part-time for 38 hours per fortnight. The role is classified as Medical Scientist Grade 1 and is based at the Alfred Centre. Join the Monash and Alfred research program and enjoy various staff benefits.
The Position
The Clinical Research Assistant will provide essential clinical research support for programs based at Alfred Health. This role is responsible for supporting key clinical trials, including PROMOTE, FASTRACK, and the Alfred Pathways to Rehabilitation program. Research tasks will be allocated according to the individual's experience and competency level.
Key Duties For This Role Include
- Administer standardised assessments to evaluate upper limb and physical function, such as ROM, walking speed tests, Box and Block test, and Action Research Arm Test, and accurately enter data into REDCap databases.
- Conduct qualitative interviews with individuals undergoing healthcare or those with health conditions, including adults with stroke and brain injury.
- Promote best practice teamwork principles and actively contribute to the interdisciplinary team.
- Establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with patients and their families/carers.
- Enter data into an electronic data capture system.
- Assist in the management of clinical trials.
- Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure smooth trial operations.
- Recruit participants for trials.
- Ensure effective use of time and physical resources.
- Respond to referrals/clinical requests within agreed timelines and in accordance with departmental protocols.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential
- Bachelors or masters degree in a relevant discipline.
- AHPRA registration (if required).
- GCP certification.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct qualitative interviews.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a research team.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with a diverse range of people.
Desirable
- Experience working with patients with neurological illness.
- Knowledge of grant applications and the Australian funding sector.
- Knowledge of REDCap databases.
- Experience using electronic data capture systems.
- Experience developing ethics applications.
- Experience in study set-up, data collection, and management.
