Overview of the Chief of Staff, Engineering Role

The Chief of Staff, Engineering will be a vital support for strategic initiatives led by the Chief Technology Officer at Aledade, Inc. In this impactful remote role, you will define strategic projects, manage critical programs, and collaborate across various teams. Your work will directly enhance the CTO's effectiveness, ensure the department's mandate is met, and support cross-functional strategic efforts throughout the organization.

This position is ideal for an organized and systematic problem-solver who can plan, arrange, and manage processes to achieve key outcomes. You possess a structured and detailed approach, are solution-oriented, and can quickly adapt to changes. You will initiate and plan projects using sound project management principles, ensuring effective hand-offs for execution.

While flexible with geographic location, the ideal candidate will be comfortable working remotely within the US or from one of our offices in Durham, NC; New York, NY; Austin, TX; or Bethesda, MD. This role may also be hired at a Senior Director level based on experience and qualifications.

Primary Duties

Leadership Support, Cross-Company Planning & Communication:

  • Serve as a thought partner to the CTO, identifying emerging issues and priorities to ensure alignment with team goals.
  • Support the CTO in governance and planning for team and cross-functional meetings.
  • Communicate P&T roadmap, deployment, and overall status to the broader company.

Program Management:

  • Collaborate with product, tech, and business owners to plan, execute, de-risk, and communicate progress on critical programs.
  • Act as the primary contact for Aledade's corporate planning group, shaping communication around roadmaps, status, risks, and tradeoffs.

Support for the Technology Organization:

  • Coordinate activities to foster employee engagement.
  • Support employee development, training, and events.
  • Define and maintain operational policies, such as travel, reward programs, and training.
  • Coordinate with the Technology organization for combined Product & Tech meetings, communications, and policies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a Chief of Staff, client service, or related role.
  • 12+ years of professional experience within a large team.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

  • Experience within tech/digital organizations.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing projects and interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a company operational function is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with superb attention to detail.
  • Project management process knowledge; PMP or LEAN certification preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to operate independently and understand business context and priorities.
  • Relevant competencies include developing and maintaining internal stakeholder relationships, project management, and effective written and verbal communication.
  • Must be results-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Competency with data manipulation and presentation.
