Overview

The Alberta Ministry of Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration is seeking a Senior Analyst for the Municipal Affairs sector in Edmonton. This full-time, permanent position (36.25 hours per week) plays a key role in advancing data strategy, business intelligence, and effective decision-making. The successful candidate will leverage advanced data analysis, business intelligence tools, and project management skills to support strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Business Intelligence & Data Management: Develop and implement strategies to enhance the ministry’s data infrastructure while ensuring data quality, integrity, and security.
• Data Analytics & Reporting: Conduct advanced data analysis, design interactive dashboards, and produce reports to support operational and strategic goals.
• Project Management & Leadership: Lead cross-functional data projects, mentor junior analysts, and facilitate working groups to optimize reporting processes.
• Communication & Training: Deliver training sessions and presentations to translate complex analytics into clear, actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.

Competencies & Qualifications

The role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in tools such as SAS, Power BI, Excel, Python, SQL, and VBA, and a university degree in a relevant field with a minimum of four years of related experience. Additional competencies include systems thinking, agility, creative problem solving, and collaborative skills.
