Role Overview

We are looking for a colleague for the IT&Digital team for the position of Azure Specialist. The new colleague in this role will be responsible for data transfers, environment preparation, and data support for applications in the areas of data analytics, business intelligence, and data science in the Azure Cloud. They will be responsible for the design, implementation, and deployment of data pumps, such as pipelines in Azure Data Factory (ADF), and for processing and transforming data in Databricks. However, they will not be limited to the Azure environment – they will encounter and have the opportunity to work with other databases (Oracle, MS SQL) and other applications used for BI.

Responsibilities

• Manage Azure storage, user profiles, and database space.
• Ensure compliance with standards set by data, security, infrastructure, platform, and other architectural domains.
• Support the use of Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and other components.
• Operate data pumps from/to on-premise environments to/from Azure storage.
• Develop external connectivity and data pumps.
• Monitor Azure cloud development in line with global and regional standards and principles of the Ahold Delhaize group.
• Liaise with central Ahold Delhaize Azure cloud support.
• Design the most suitable Azure Cloud data storage based on the type of problem being solved.
• Regularly monitor the performance of Azure cloud solutions, design, and develop optimal solutions.
• Evaluate the use of alternative Azure Cloud technologies in cooperation with value stream platform architects and the enterprise architect.
• Participate in meetings concerning potential data processing and transfers and propose possible solutions.
• Support ad-hoc data needs.
• Resolve incidents related to areas of responsibility.
• Support the gradual simplification of existing inefficient data manipulation processes.
• Familiarize yourself with main applications and master their basic operation.
• Create and maintain a catalog of objects and processes in the Azure cloud.

What We Expect From You

• University degree, ideally technical in computer science and information processing, e.g., Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Czech Technical University.
• At least 2 years of experience in a related field.

Skills

• Advanced practical knowledge of Azure cloud and its components (especially ADF, Databricks).
• Advanced knowledge of Python and Apache Spark.
• Ability to build and automate complete processes from data reception at the source, its processing, transformation, and storage in the cloud.
• Ability to enable access to cloud data from an external environment for further processing and analysis.
• Basic practical knowledge of at least one of the other databases (ORACLE, MS SQL, Postgress, etc.).
• Ideally, experience with large data volumes.

Competencies

• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to negotiate with clients to achieve clear and undisputed specifications.
• Ability to communicate in English.
• Basic presentation skills.
• Basic social intelligence.
