Clinical Nurse III, Adult Emergency Department at Albany Medical Center

Albany Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and skilled Clinical Nurse III to join our Adult Emergency Department team. This vital role involves assessing, coordinating, planning, directing, implementing, and managing the needs of assigned patients throughout their acute care stay, with a strong focus on progress toward discharge and smooth transitions.

As a Clinical Nurse, you will be a key part of the caregiving team, responsible for the comprehensive delivery and coordination of patient care. Your commitment to providing competent, compassionate patient care will extend to all customers, including referring facilities, hospital staff, and patients across inpatient, ambulatory, and community settings.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Implement physician orders, administer medications, initiate IVs, perform treatments, procedures, and special tests, documenting all care in compliance with company policy and regulations.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to accurately identify and assess patients' conditions.
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs and their responses to the care provided, applying sound nursing judgment in all patient care management decisions.
  • Provide primary and emergency care for both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Administer over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered by physicians.
  • Collaborate effectively with the nursing team to develop comprehensive Plans of Care for all patients.
  • Direct and guide ancillary personnel, upholding the highest standards of professional nursing practice.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from a professional academic nursing program conferring a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree.
  • Current, active New York State Registered Nurse (NYS RN) license is required.
  • Obtain and maintain certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of previous clinical nursing experience within an Emergency Department setting, preferably in a large academic, Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center.
  • Demonstrated ability to enhance job performance through continuous education and professional development.
  • Possess knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques, with the ability to apply them to support departmental and patient care quality improvement initiatives.
