Albany Med Health System is seeking a dedicated and experienced Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy department. This position involves working a 7 on/7 off overnight schedule, providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients of all ages.

About the Role

As an Overnight Pharmacist, you will be an integral part of the patient care team, utilizing your expertise in medication safety, therapeutics, education, and preparation. You will be responsible for reviewing medication orders, dispensing medications, monitoring patient drug therapy, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes. This role also involves supervising support personnel and contributing to the advancement of pharmaceutical care services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care to all patient types and ages.
• Actively promote medication safety and the rational, cost-effective use of medications.
• Effectively review medication orders and drug therapies to improve patient outcomes.
• Prepare and dispense medications accurately and efficiently.
• Provide expert drug information and monitor patient drug therapy.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, patients, and their families to optimize pharmaceutical care.
• Supervise and direct pharmacy support personnel.
• Participate in the training and development of pharmacy staff.
• Provide professional services and leadership to the Department, Center, and Community.
• Assist in the continued advancement of pharmaceutical care services.
• Assume essential responsibilities of a pharmacy supervisor/manager in their absence.
• Act as a recognized expert and leader in pharmaceutical care.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited school (Required).
• Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited school (Required).
• Current NYS Pharmacy License (Required upon hire).
• Experience in health system pharmacy practice (Preferred).
• Demonstrated basic working knowledge of pharmacy practice.
• Ability to coordinate and supervise departmental functions.
• Skill in improving the quality of pharmaceutical care.
• Dedication to the highest standards of professionalism and ability to act as a role model.
• Demonstrated ability to develop a leadership role in providing pharmaceutical care.
