Nurse - Akasa Air
Job Summary
The Nurse in the Medical Department of an airline is responsible for conducting regulatory medical tests, performing administrative duties in compliance with Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) regulations, and providing clinical care. The role involves ensuring the health and safety of airline personnel and passengers.
Key Responsibilities
DGCA Mandated Duties:
- Conduct breath alcohol testing for cockpit crew, cabin crew, and ground personnel as per DGCA Civil Aviation Requirements.
- Assist in the process of random psychoactive substance testing for cockpit crew, cabin crew, and ground personnel, ensuring compliance with DGCA regulations.
Clinical Duties:
- Attend to OPD (Outpatient Department) patients, perform initial assessments, and follow the doctor's orders.
- Provide first aid and attend to medical emergencies involving employees and passengers.
- Handle MEDIF (Medical Information Form) passenger calls, gather medical information, and inform the doctor on duty.
- Assist in preparing First Aid Kits, Medical Kits, Universal Precaution Kits, and AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators).
Administrative Duties:
- Arrange for calibration and track the movement of alcohol testing instruments.
- Download video footage from CCTV cameras as required.
- Maintain medical records and DGCA-mandated documentation in compliance with regulations.
- Monitor and manage the medical inventory of the department.
- Perform daily administrative tasks in the medical department.
- Execute duties assigned by the Head of Medical Services (HOD).
Work Schedule
- Duty Hours: 8.5 hours per shift.
- Shifts: Morning, Afternoon, and Night shifts.
Qualifications And Skills
- Education: GNM Diploma or BSc Degree in Nursing (Registered Nurse).
- Registration: Valid and active registration with Nursing Council of India is mandatory.
- Experience: 1-2 years prior experience in clinical care or aviation medical services is preferred.
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment and first aid skills. Familiarity with DGCA regulations and medical documentation. Proficiency in handling medical equipment and inventory management. Excellent verbal & written communication and organizational skills.
