About Akamai Technologies and the Senior Automation Engineer Role

Akamai Technologies, through its recent acquisition of Noname, is reinventing application security by changing how web APIs are protected and monitored. Its pioneering platform gives security professionals visibility into behavior across their entire API estate, enabling discovery, analysis, and threat prevention for APIs exposed to partners, suppliers, and users. We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join our core engineering team. This role is ideal for an experienced automation engineer passionate about security, testing infrastructure, and software quality, eager to contribute to cutting-edge API security products.
What You Will Do
- Design and develop automation frameworks for testing API security products using Python.
- Own automation coverage by writing, maintaining, and extending robust automated test suites for functional, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Develop testing infrastructure that integrates with CI/CD pipelines, ensuring continuous quality and rapid feedback loops.
- Collaborate with R&D Teams to define quality standards and testing strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Drive Shift-Left Testing Initiatives, contributing to API security validation throughout the development process.
- Lead efforts in root-cause analysis, debugging, and improving test stability and reliability.
- Contribute to performance testing, security validations, and business logic edge case testing.
What You Bring
To be successful as a Senior Automation Engineer, you will:
- Possess 5+ years of experience in automation development within complex backend/API-heavy products.
- Hold a B.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience (military tech units or hands-on roles).
- Demonstrate strong Python programming skills.
- Have experience with automation frameworks, test infrastructure development, and CI/CD integration.
- Possess an understanding of API security concepts and web technologies.
- Be experienced with pipelines, build tools, and automated deployments.
- Have a background in security testing, fuzzing, or vulnerability detection.
