About the Role: Communications Specialist at Akamai Technologies

Do you have a passion for storytelling and driving recognition initiatives? Are you excited about fostering employee engagement and using internal communications strategies to support business objectives? Join Akamai's world-class Global Services team as a Communications Specialist.

This role involves partnering with the Global Services Strategy & Communications team to develop and implement internal communications and recognition programs that inform, engage, and motivate our employees. You will create compelling, high-quality content, craft employee news stories, and manage GS communications channels, leveraging your excellent communications and creative design skills.

As a key communicator, you will be passionate about informing, engaging, and motivating employees and keen to learn how internal communications strategies support overall business objectives. This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong listening and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with employees across Global Services to uncover, draft, and share news stories.
  • Gather and analyze communications metrics that enable us to continuously improve our work.
  • Create and manage employee recognition programs.
  • Support the planning and execution of our quarterly All Hands meetings and other recurring employee engagement forums.
  • Manage internal comms collateral with regular updates, governance, and visibility using tools like Google Drive.
  • Draft announcements, executive presentations, messages, and internal blog posts.
  • Participate in Akamai's Global Communications Network to ensure alignment and information-sharing across our global organization.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • An eye for design and aptitude for using images and video in storytelling.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and track details in a dynamic environment.
  • Dedicated team player comfortable working in a large, complex, and highly matrixed organization.
  • Previous exposure to intranet tools is ideal, but not required.
