Job Description

DevOps Engineer Intern at Aizon

Aizon is a software-as-a-service provider transforming manufacturing operations in life science industries using advanced analytics and artificial intelligence. Following a recent Series C funding round, we are expanding our team with ambitious members eager to directly impact our future growth as we launch “Aizon 3.0.” Aizon empowers pharma manufacturers and CDMOs to make superior decisions in GMP operations.

What distinguishes Aizon from other manufacturing platforms? We enable operations leaders and engineers to bypass endless data retrieval cycles in complex systems, rapidly enhancing manufacturing processes. We address multiple costly problems in GMP operations, accelerating digital maturity. Our unique capability lies in operationalizing predictive AI models in real-time without extensive data science staff. We are supported by industry and software investor firms such as NewVale Capital, Atlantic Bridge, Danaher, Honeywell, CrossLink, and UnCork, bringing solid industry and technology expertise.

Our mission is to improve global health by optimizing medicine manufacturing, ensuring pharma and biotech companies deliver the right medicine at the right time and price worldwide. Join us if you are motivated to significantly impact our company’s success and growth, and crucially, contribute positively to the life science industry and patients globally.

The Position:

Report to: Team Lead DevOps

As a DevOps Engineer Intern, you will play an active role in supporting the reliability and efficiency of our cloud platform. You will assist the team in maintaining high standards of automation and documentation while identifying opportunities for platform optimization. Under the guidance of the DevOps team, you will contribute to Infrastructure Delivery Automation in AWS, supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of our deployment workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support IaC Development: Assist in the design and implementation of AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles. You will gain hands-on experience with OpenTofu (Terraform), Terragrunt, and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Environment & Release Management: Participate in the commissioning and decommissioning of product environments and support the team during scheduled product releases.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Automation: Help build and maintain continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using GitHub Actions. You’ll apply your coding skills in Python and Bash/Zsh to automate infrastructure and application deployments.
  • Compliance & Security Standards: Learn to align infrastructure with global standards (ISO 9001, 27001, NIS 2, SOC 2, and GAMP) by supporting configuration management and audit-readiness tasks.
  • Vulnerability Management: Assist in automating infrastructure patching and vulnerability scanning to secure our cloud environment.
  • Monitoring & Incident Support: Work with the team to monitor system health and participate in incident response to learn troubleshooting and resolution of real-world cloud issues.

Qualifications: Must-have

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical degree.
  • Linux/Unix Basics: Comfortable navigating a terminal and performing basic tasks in Bash or Zsh (e.g., from lab work or personal projects).
  • Scripting Fundamentals: Ability to write clean, basic code in Python or another high-level language.
  • Version Control: Basic understanding of Git (knowing how to clone, commit, and push code is a must).
  • Cloud Curiosity: A theoretical understanding of what "The Cloud" is. You don't need to be an AWS expert, but you should know the difference between a server and a database.

Qualifications: Nice-have

  • Any exposure to Docker or containers from a class project.
  • Familiarity with GitHub Actions or any automation tool (even if just for a personal website).
  • Personal projects or a GitHub profile that shows you like to tinker with tech outside of school hours.
  • An interest in Cybersecurity or infrastructure.

The Human We’re Looking For:

  • A disciplined approach to following instructions and safety protocols (crucial for a regulated environment).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills; you’re the person who doesn’t give up when your code throws an error.
  • A proactive self-learner mindset, with a genuine interest in continuously expanding your technical knowledge.
  • Curious and enthusiastic for learning new tools, technologies, and best practices in DevOps and cloud environments.
  • Openness to feedback, with the maturity to embrace it as an opportunity for growth.
  • A positive, collaborative attitude and willingness to support the team while building your own skills.

What We Offer

  • Unique opportunity to join our company as it scales with excellent market traction and huge potential to grow globally.
  • Competitive Salary (according To Your Experience/skills).
  • Internal training and certifications plan.
  • Career plan.
  • Monthly team-building activities.
  • Top-notch "tech pack" – We are Mac lovers!
  • An open and collaborative work environment with a young and dynamic team and a very international culture.
  • An opportunity for personal and professional growth, supported by stellar investors and the exciting challenges that come with joining a company at the start of its growth trajectory.

Join our team and significantly impact our company's growth and success as we shake the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. Apply now and be part of our journey to transform the way pharmaceutical companies operate. We are dedicated to maintaining an inclusive workplace in which all employees are treated with respect and are able to contribute meaningfully to society.
