Job Description

Crew Compliance Specialist at Airbus

The Crew Compliance Specialist is responsible for designing, supporting, and overseeing the implementation of product features related to the compliance of Crew Legality rules and regulations at airlines. This includes Civil Aviation Rules, Company Rules, and Union Rules where applicable. NAVBLUE’s N-OC (Ops & Crew) is currently the primary system involved, though other products may also be utilized.

Main Responsibilities

As part of the Customer Fulfillment team within NAVBLUE Portfolio, the Crew Compliance Specialist (CCS) manages domain-specific technical support for all NAVBLUE products featuring crew compliance. The CCS provides expert technical support on NAVBLUE Products, specifically regarding Crew Legalities and Compliance, acting as a product expert for internal teams and customers.

  • Analyze customer feedback and product occurrences to provide leadership and direction for development activities.
  • Prioritize bug fixes and enhancements, following up with relevant development teams.
  • Provide operational expertise on product usage, ensuring verification and validation for operational use.
  • Accountable for customer satisfaction across safety, security, quality, and business pillars.
  • Analyze, define, and implement features like credit calculations for payroll, understanding system relationships within an OCC.
  • Collaborate with the Customer Experience team for Level 3 product expertise support.
  • Define new Product release content by prioritizing bug fixes and enhancements.
  • Conduct internal testing and User Acceptance Tests to ensure verification and validation.
  • Support deal management (RFP, RFI) and delivery teams (Customer onboarding) with product expertise.
  • Act as a Product Owner for occurrence management, ensuring smooth communication with stakeholders.
  • Support Customer Experience in maintaining and reviewing training materials and product documentation.
  • Contribute to process and product material enhancements, including customer-facing documentation, help files, white papers, and marketing materials.
  • Analyze the impact of changes on existing implementations (FAR, EASA, CAA) and cascading effects on OCC or business operations.
  • Understand overall airline crew operations to analyze, define, and implement union and company rules.
  • Participate in overseeing and auditing customer systems for compliance and standard implementation.

Qualified Experience/Skills/Training

Education

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree or diploma in computer science or technology, or a technical aviation-related domain (e.g., diplomas leading to OCC leadership jobs or equivalent).

Experience

  • Important experience in the aviation industry.
  • Proven experience maintaining project schedules, documentation, communications, and meeting deadlines.
  • Experience developing under external industry standards or certifications.
  • Important baseline experience with and understanding of Civil Aviation crew Regulations, especially FAR regulations in North America.
  • Experience in a software development environment, driving feature progress and requirements gathering (asset).
  • Understanding of the full SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) management (asset).

  • Critical experience in the aviation industry.
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.
  • Proactive, problem-solver with effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate technical aspects of architecture and integration to management, clients, and staff, both verbally and written.
  • Ability to manage through periods of growth or transition (definite asset).
  • Able to translate strategic objectives into daily activities and motivate others.
  • Supplier (including contract) and partner management.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Candidates with specific experience in IOCs will likely be given preference.

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages)

  • English language proficiency.
  • French is an asset but not required.

Technical Systems Proficiency

  • Experience with common or in-house Crew Compliance software (strong asset).
  • Experience interpreting Crew Compliance regulations in real-world scenarios (strong asset).
  • Responsible for stack management of RFP responses via tools such as Loopio.
