You will join Policy & Communications, a group at the heart of engaging communities and stakeholders globally. This role is part of Airbnb’s Data Science organization and is designed to support data-driven policy engagement.
The Difference You Will Make
As a Staff Policy Economist, you will provide meaningful insights for internal teams and external stakeholders. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams including policy, communications, business, legal, finance, and data science, as well as with external experts, academics, and policy makers.
A Typical Day
- Conduct regulatory impact analysis and quantitative modeling.
- Utilize AI/ML models to extract insights from legislation and unstructured data.
- Collaborate with academics and experts on policy research issues.
- Create mappings, spatial analysis, and compelling visualizations.
- Develop prototypes, dashboards, and tools to scale data usage.
Your Expertise
- Advanced degree in a quantitative field.
- 6+ years of experience in data modeling and analysis.
- Proficiency in complex strategic analysis and project management.
- Expertise in causal inference and econometric techniques.
- Skilled in R/Python, SQL, Data Visualization, GIS, and Excel.
- Exposure to policy, economics, or adjacent fields.
Your Location
This is a US - Remote Eligible position. Occasional work from an Airbnb office or offsites may be required. Applicants must reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.

How We'll Take Care Of You
The role offers a competitive base pay with potential bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits. Compensation is determined by experience, skills, business needs, and market demand. The listed pay range is $194,000—$240,000 USD.
