The Community You Will Join
You will join a team focused on building new tools for co-hosting and making it easier for people to host together as a team. Collaborate with engineering teams in San Francisco, London, and Paris to scale the project from regional to global.
Your Role as a Staff Backend Engineer - Hosting Services
You will lead the development and refinement of major subsystems powering the hosting services systems. Responsibilities include:
- Designing future state technical systems with strategic product insights
- Leading technical solutions and mentoring other engineers
- Building and refining product features and systems
- Collaborating with product, UX, data science, and platform teams
- Establishing a technical vision and delivering scalable, efficient solutions
Your Expertise
Requirements include 9+ years of software development experience, expertise with backend systems in large-scale service-oriented architectures, strong judgment, excellent communication skills, and a passion for efficiency, availability, and system quality.
Location & Work Arrangement
This position is US - Remote Eligible. Occasional onsite work at an Airbnb office may be required based on agreement with your manager. Candidates must reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.

Compensation and Benefits
Base pay is determined by factors including training, transferable skills, experience, and market demands. The listed pay range is $204,000—$255,000 USD, and the role may be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
