Airbnb, founded in 2007, connects millions of hosts and guests globally. As a Senior Software Engineer, Safety, you will work with diverse teams to detect and stop potential risky bookings and identify risk users.
The Difference You Will Make
Collaborate with data scientists, designers, product managers, analytics, and customer service operations to innovate safety measures on a large scale.
A Typical Day
- Work with large scale back end systems to detect risks with rules and machine learning models.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for safety improvements.
- Build tooling and automation to reduce safety risks.
- Develop solutions that minimize good user impact while deterring bad actors.
Your Expertise
- 5+ years in building scalable systems with relevant advanced degree.
- Proficiency with Scala, Java, or Python.
- Ability to design high performance backend systems and APIs.
- Experience communicating technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
- Exposure to Trust and Risk domains and/or large language models is a plus.
Your Location
This role is US - Remote Eligible. Candidates must reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.

Compensation & Benefits
Base pay range: $191,000—$223,000 USD. The role may include bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
