The Community You Will Join
The Threat Detection and Response team (TDR) at Airbnb focuses on automating security detection, responding to incidents, and building capabilities to support the incident lifecycle. This team is the front-line defense detecting, investigating, and responding to internal and external security threats.
The Difference You Will Make
As a senior engineer on the team, you will define and execute innovative threat detection and incident response strategies while mentoring team members. You will have a direct impact on building, optimizing, and growing secure capabilities at Airbnb.
A Typical Day
- Investigate security incidents using digital forensics and data analytics.
- Utilize coding and analytics skills to hunt and mitigate threats.
- Build automation and detection models to identify anomalous activity.
- Proactively hunt for threats in corporate and production environments.
- Collaborate with engineering, legal, privacy, and partner teams.
Your Expertise
- 5+ years in security operations including investigations and incident response.
- Experience with Python, AWS, SQL, and Pandas.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of Cyber Kill Chain and MITRE ATT&CK Frameworks.
- Experience automating security detection and response.
- Preferred experience in AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS).
Your Location
This position is US - Remote Eligible. Occasional visits to an Airbnb office or offsites may occur as agreed with your manager. Ensure you reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.

How We'll Take Care Of You
The base pay range, bonus, equity, and benefits are determined based on experience and market demands. The pay range for this role is $191,000—$223,000 USD.
