AgriAssure is dedicated to building robust regulatory infrastructure for food and beverage manufacturers, importers, and exporters operating across Canada and the United States. The agri-food sector, known for its high regulation and operational fragmentation, still largely relies on manual compliance execution. Critical regulatory requirements such as supplier verification, traceability, labeling compliance, preventive control programs, and audit readiness are often managed inefficiently through spreadsheets, consultants, and static PDFs.

We are developing a structured SaaS platform designed to convert complex regulatory frameworks into executable workflows, intelligent decision engines, and AI-supported compliance intelligence.

Our Minimum Viable Product (MVP) is fully built and operational, with early commercialization actively underway. The company is now transitioning from a foundational "functional product" to scalable regulatory infrastructure. We are actively seeking a Chief Technology Officer who is eager to build and take full ownership of this crucial infrastructure, with the ambition for AgriAssure to become the "Vanta for Food & Bev."

This pivotal role begins as equity-only and part-time, featuring clearly documented vesting terms and a defined pathway to paid compensation following the achievement of specific revenue or funding milestones.

What You Will Own as Chief Technology Officer

• Define and continuously evolve the technical architecture of the AgriAssure platform.
• Audit and significantly strengthen the current codebase to ensure optimal scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Design intricate system structures that effectively convert complex regulatory logic into structured workflows and sophisticated rule-based engines.
• Lead the comprehensive implementation of advanced AI-assisted modules, including:
• Regulatory classification engines
• Structured document parsing capabilities
• Dynamic risk scoring frameworks
• Automated workflow solutions across entire compliance lifecycles
• Establish disciplined deployment, rigorous testing, and robust version control practices appropriate for a compliance-oriented SaaS product.
• Oversee all development resources, whether internal teams or external agencies, while steadfastly maintaining ultimate architectural authority.
• Partner directly and strategically with the Founder on critical aspects such as product roadmap definition, technical trade-offs, and long-term platform strategy.

Ultimately, you will shape how compliance is operationalized at scale within a vital industry.

The Technical Challenge

The AgriAssure platform presents unique technical challenges as a logic platform that must:

• Accurately translate diverse regulatory frameworks into structured, conditional workflows.
• Maintain comprehensive audit trails and ensure defensible documentation logic for all processes.
• Support and manage cross-border regulatory differences seamlessly.
• Integrate AI responsibly and effectively without compromising the platform's reliability.
• Scale efficiently across a diverse user base, including manufacturers, importers, consultants, and future marketplace participants.

This role demands expertise in applied systems design within a highly regulated domain.

What We Are Looking For

• 7+ years of experience in software development, with at least several years in pivotal architectural or technical leadership roles.
• Proven experience owning or successfully scaling a production SaaS platform.
• A strong background in modern web architecture, including experience with frameworks like Laravel (or comparable backend frameworks), modern frontend stacks, and relational databases.
• Demonstrated experience in designing structured workflow systems or sophisticated rule-based engines.
• Exposure to AI/LLM integrations within production environments is considered a significant asset.
• Comfort and proven ability to operate effectively in an early-stage environment where clarity must be actively created rather than inherited.
• A genuine willingness and commitment to build something substantial and long-term, not merely to experiment casually.

• Compensation is equity-based, with a vesting schedule to be defined.
