About The Role
Block, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer for Ledgering to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the systems of record that track balances and transactions across our platforms. Your expertise will be crucial in building reliable settlement orchestration systems, automating treasury processes, and providing scalable APIs to support our partner teams. You will play a key role in shaping the architecture of our financial systems, leading complex projects, and mentoring junior engineers. Collaboration across product, finance, and treasury teams will be essential as you work to deliver new features and capabilities in a high-reliability environment, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial data.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software engineering with extensive experience in financial systems, ledger management, or related domains. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred. Proven expertise in designing scalable APIs, distributed systems, and high-availability architectures is essential. Candidates should have strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Python, or similar, along with experience in cloud computing platforms like AWS or GCP. Familiarity with financial regulations, security standards, and experience working in agile development environments will be advantageous. Excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to work collaboratively across teams, and a proactive approach to innovation are highly valued.
Responsibilities
Design and develop robust systems of record for balances and transactions that ensure data integrity and high availability.
Build and optimize settlement orchestration processes to facilitate efficient and reliable financial transactions.
Automate treasury workflows and processes to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
Develop and maintain scalable APIs to enable seamless integration with partner teams and external platforms.
Drive architectural decisions and contribute to the overall technical strategy for financial systems.
Lead complex projects from conception through deployment, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
Collaborate closely with product managers, finance, and treasury teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and industry standards to safeguard financial data and systems.
