About The Role

Reveal is a dynamic startup revolutionizing field operations by providing software tools and insights to individuals in remote, disconnected, and extreme environments. Our products include Farsight, a 3D processing and mission planning tool, as well as Identifi, which enables secure and rapid identity verification. Reveal is deeply committed to supporting defense, security, and safety missions. We're growing our team to meet expanding demands and opportunities.

We are looking for a Senior Android Software Engineer to own and drive development of our Android applications. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams within Reveal to define and execute the technical roadmap for Identifi and our future Human Systems products. Your expertise will be crucial in developing innovative solutions that meet the stringent requirements of defense and security missions.

This position might be for you if: you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative engineering environment with minimal oversight; you have a proven track record of owning features and products from conception through development, testing, release, and support; and you have experience building mobile applications for large user bases, including solo projects. Your passion for technology and problem-solving will be key to advancing our mission-critical applications.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 8+ years of experience in Android development using native tools.
• Deep expertise in Kotlin and Java.
• Proven history of contributing to or leveraging open-source projects.
• Solid understanding of cryptographic and security principles.
• Capable of working autonomously in a fully remote environment.
• Demonstrating a growth mindset and eagerness to learn new technologies.
• Familiarity with developing SDKs, ATAK plugins.
• Experience in security-sensitive applications such as biometrics and DoD projects.
• Backend or web development experience is advantageous.
• Exposure to IPC/RPC frameworks like gRPC is advantageous.
• Knowledge of languages such as Ruby, C++, C#, and Python is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop native Android applications using Kotlin, including leading the development of features for the Identifi biometrics product.
• Own and maintain Reveal’s Human Systems suite of ATAK plugins and integrations with core products.
• Collaborate with SDK vendors to integrate new functionalities and ensure seamless operation across platforms.
• Serve as the Android subject matter expert, providing guidance to the engineering team on Android-specific projects and troubleshooting complex issues.
• Advocate for and drive improvements in user experience, security, and application performance.
• Ensure engineering quality through sound architecture, thorough code reviews, and fostering collaborative development practices.
• Support business development and mission success teams by troubleshooting technical issues and providing expert advice.
