About The Role

We are seeking an experienced PHP Developer to join our growing technical team at GrabJobs. The primary focus of this role is to develop and enhance our Student Information System (SIS) platform, which serves private schools across the United States. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating new functionalities, improving existing modules, and ensuring the system’s robustness and scalability. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute to a vital educational technology solution while working in a flexible, remote environment. Collaboration with a team of developers, guided by a Team Lead, will be central to your daily tasks, including planning, coding, testing, and reviewing software modules.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of full-time development experience, with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and practical application. You should have at least three years of hands-on experience with PHP, specifically PHP 7.0 or higher, and be proficient in working with MySQL databases, including query analysis and optimization. A basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is essential for effective collaboration within the development team. Fluency in written and spoken English is required for clear communication with team members and stakeholders. Candidates with prior experience as a Senior PHP Developer, familiarity with modern PHP frameworks, API integration, and microservice architecture will be given preference. Experience working remotely with a predictable schedule and a conversational level of English will also be considered advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop new modules and features for the Student Information System as part of a collaborative team of 2-5 developers, under the guidance of a Team Lead.
• Participate in planning and estimating stories to ensure timely delivery of features.
• Prepare detailed technical specifications, estimate project timelines, and manage deadlines effectively.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code adhering to best practices and coding standards.
• Conduct code reviews to maintain code quality and facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
• Create and execute tests to verify the functionality and reliability of developed features.
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of new functionalities.
• Maintain and optimize existing codebases, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and incorporate relevant technologies to enhance system performance.
