Laboratory Technician Mineralogy

AGAT Laboratories is seeking a Laboratory Technician for our Mineralogy Lab in Calgary, AB. This entry-level position involves assisting with administrative and basic laboratory activities under the guidance of the Laboratory Supervisor. This is a seasonal position with an anticipated end date of August 1st, 2026.

What You Will Be Doing

• Perform basic laboratory procedures, including sample, reagent, and calibration solution preparation.
• Provide general lab support such as washing glassware, cleaning workstations, and waste disposal.
• Operate various laboratory equipment, including XRD, XRF, TGA, and Magnetic Separator instrumentation.
• Calibrate, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot intermediate instruments.
• Compile, verify, and validate accurate data records.
• Meet quality assurance and turn-around time specifications.
• Adhere to all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Report results and perform other assigned duties.

What You Bring To The Table

• Post-secondary education with a Technical Diploma/Science Degree or equivalent industry experience.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience, including previous laboratory work.
• Basic computer skills with proficiency in MS Office and LIMS.
• Good communication skills and fluency in English (verbal and written).
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Mature work ethic, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to consistently lift 25+ pounds.
